An increasing interest for the 8 strings is being observed among the musicians in recent years. Phenomenon fed by the increase in offers of this type of instrument for great industries and artisan manufacturers for the whole world.

The jazz musicians have been giving special attention to the technical possibilities of the 8 strings. However, the English guitarist Paul Galbraith, who lives in São Paulo, figures as the most expressive musician of the present time that use this instrument. Galbraith possesses a very original technique for the execution. His guitar haves a metallic foot leaving the butt, which is supported over a resonance box in the ground, so the instrument is positioned as a violoncello, in quasi vertical position in front of the artist.
